The XT Plus cell combines the features of the XT Series, plus wrapped positive plates for longer cycle life. In heavy cycling applications, positive plate shedding and active material wash-out is the most common failure mode of batteries. C&D has countered this problem by designing the XT Plus, a high-cycling battery with a fiberglass positive wrap, inhibiting shedding and active material wash-out.

The XT Series is constructed of lead-calcium instead of lead-antimony which extends watering intervals without sacrificing performance. The flame-retardant thermoplastic cover meets UL 94-VO fire-retardancy requirements.

The float service warranties usually had it clause limiting the number of cycles allowed per year. Only after a cell fails do most owners learn that their bat- tery was exposed to "cycle service", invalidating most float warranties. C&D recognizes that UPS batteries are cycled and require cycle warranties. To meet this challenge, C&D has developed a unique Cycle Service Warranty in addition to its standard Float Service Warranty. The Cycle Service Warranty defines the battery life expectancy and refund adjustments in terms of number of cycles for various duration instead of number of years. To assure you are getting the maximum performance from your UPS battery purchase, compare each manufacturers' cycle claims and then ask each manufacturer how they intend to backup and validate their cycle warranty.
